Assassin's Creed III: Liberation confirmed with female lead in New Orleans setting

Ubisoft and Sony have gleefully announced Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, the rumoured Vita franchise debut. Meet Aveline in the pair of trailers through the break.

Liberation stars a female assassin of French and African named Aveline de Granpré, who joined the Brotherhood in 1759. That's about all we know about her, except that she kicks arse, as seen in the second trailer below.

The game is set during the Lousiana Revolution in 1768 and releases on Vita on October 31, alongside Assassin's Creed III.

It will be released in a Vita hardware bundle with the new Crystal White model, and owning both Liberation and the PS3 version of Assassin's Creed III will net you cross-promotional unlock content, including weapons pouch upgrades, multiplayer maps and character skins.

There's a couple of screens down the bottom there, too.
