Assassin's Creed film secures Boardwalk Empire's Michael K. Williams

Assassin's Creed will co-star Chalky from Boardwalk Empire.

The Assassin's Creed film will feature the talents of Michael K. Williams.

Best known for his role in Boardwalk Empire, Williams will also appear in the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot.

The news of his signing to the Assassin's Creed movie comes via Variety. Less solidly, the site also has word from anonymous sources that Williams will have a prominent role in the film, featuring as a co-star alongside producer Michael Fassbender. That would be brilliant; I hope it's true.

We can't really speculate on Williams' character, as the New Regency project has so far remained pretty watertight in terms of plot and setting. Expect that to change once it goes into production later this year ahead of a late 2016 release.

Ariane Labed and Marion Cotillard are also believed to be on board. In spite of the curse, actually think this one might happen, and possibly even be good.
