Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag gets PS4 remote play demo in Cologne

Assassin's Creed 4 was showcased at Sony's presser in Cologne. Put your speculation to bed here.

It opened with Edward Kenway and a pirate discussing their lot in life on the deck of the Jackdaw, before sailing over to the shore to attack a naval fort. The clip showed cannons firing at enemy ships, the crew bracing to duck under incoming fire - like in Assassin's Creed 3 - and trying to avoid mortar fire from the nearby fort. When near a hostile ship, the option to board it and fight on the deck came up as a prompt.

Once the fort was destroyed, remote play was then used to take control of the demo by another member of Ubisoft's team using PS Vita. It ran smooth with no lag, and was certainly impressive.

The footage was slick, and the visual fidelity showing a marked visual improvement over Assassin's Creed 3.

Next, Ubisoft showed off footage of the game's PS3 & PS4-exclusive content, which follows Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation's Aveline. It showed her slicing up guards and talking about how fighting to end injustice is her only cause.

Sony's Jim Ryan added that "almost all" PS4 games will feature remote play with PS Vita.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag hits PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U on October 29 in North America and November 1 across Europe. It’ll come to PS4 as a launch title and Xbox One later on.
