Assassin's Creed 3 AR game solution detailed

Assassin's Creed 3 fans seem to have uncovered the secrets behind a puzzling little AR game.

Users completing the Hacked History tie-in game, which launched earlier in the month, were shown an image of series protagonist Desmond at some sort of modern fighting event.

NeoGAF users quickly uncovered a QR code hidden in the image, which leads to a sub-section of the Hacked Histories site allowing users to input codes.

Typing "Desmond" gives the text of the Declaration of Independence, but the site then prompts the use to "decipher" the Declaration.

Plugging in a series of numbers hidden in the original reward image then gives the quote "If the first civ couldn't save the world - how the hell are we supposed to swing it - Desmond Miles". Returning to the Declaration then highlights some letters in red text - "T t ' s h t t l a h e g c h r t l o e o l l u i w s n t e w h d p c w o r r e p o s u d f f e s h w s o a e v n s i e t i v i e", so presumably there's more than one way to reach this message.

The game's ultimate reward seems to be a link to the unlisted, UK-only video uncovered last week. Visit the NeopGAF link above to follow through the detective process; it's pretty cool.

Assassin's Creed 3 is due on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 30 in the US and October 31 in Europe. It hits PC and Wii U in November. A Vita tie-in, Liberation, launches alongside the console release.
