App Store opens Indie Games Showcase marketplace

Apple has launched an Indie Games Showcase hub on App Store to highlight the best new indie titles coming through the iOS marketplace. It follows long-standing concerns from around the industry that content saturation on the store has seen many indie titles pushed down into obscurity by larger contenders.

The first highlighted game is Device 6 by Simogo, which also has its games Year Walk and Beat Sneak Bandit highlighted below.

Apple wrote on the hub, "With Device 6, the team harnessed everything they'd learned and delivered an incredible hybrid of text adventure and puzzle game that lets you explore an interactive novel. It's an experience tailor-fit for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, and Device 6's unique gameplay made it one of our runners-up for 2013's Game of the Year."
