Apex Legends' Drew McCoy leaves Respawn after 10 years

Drew McCoy, one of the original developers of Respawn Entertainment, is parting ways with the studio.

McCoy, who most recently served as an executive producer for the company, has been with Respawn since the studio's founding in 2010. He is leaving the studio to "find new challenges," according to a post on Twitter.

“Today marks the start of a new adventure for me. I will absolutely cherish the last 10 years I spent helping start Respawn and ship some awesome games alongside amazing people,” writes McCoy in a tweet. "I'll miss the people the most - the daily arguments, successes, failures, and everything inbetween.”

"For those asking, I decided after ten (14 if you count the IW days) years it was time for a bit of a break, and to find new challenges."

McCoy's resume is packed with AAA titles, from Titanfall and Titanfall 2 to Apex Legends. Prior to joining Respawn, he worked at Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward for four years.

The studio is pretty busy these days, working on a number of projects including a continually evolving Apex Legends, a new albeit delayed Titanfal game, a Medal of Honor FPS VR game for Oculus, and Jedi: Fallen Order 2.

As we reported earlier this week, Apex Legends saw a 12% boost (MoM) to active users on consoles in January with the launch of the Grand Soiree event, but the game generated less revenue compared to December.
