Anthem: latest stream shows Fort Tarsis, Javelins and dialogue systems in Closed Alpha

Anthem has entered its alpha stage and we got a closer look at Fort Tarsis in a stream last night.

Though there were a few technical difficulties with the streaming software and not Anthem itself, BioWare fans got their first glimpse inside Fort Tarsis. There is currently a sign-up register to take part in the Closed Alpha test for EA, so get your skates on if you want to be in with a chance of getting in.

The stream gave us a look at some of Anthem’s core mechanics, how the HUD is looking and how we’ll likely be interacting with objects and others in the world. Fort Tarsis will change as you progress through Anthem’s story and we may see quite a different layout when Anthem is released in February.

Fort Tarsis is a busy place, though some of the areas were closed off during the stream. With Sentinels guarding every doorway and loads of people milling around, your Freelancer will be kept quite busy when visiting this hub.

The stream showed the Vault, which essentially acts as your inventory where you can scrap items for materials as there’s a limited amount of space, as well as various items dotted around Fort Tarsis that would provide you with a bit of Anthem’s lore.

We also got to see The Forge, where your Javelin power suit is kept, as well as a look at how the dialogue system will work. As this is a BioWare game, there are a few dialogue choices you can pick, this time without the usual dialogue circle mechanic.

There was also a sneak peek of the beginning of a questline from a mysterious woman, who is requesting the Freelancer's aid to find someone named Matthias, but that’s where the stream ends.

Anthem is due for release on February 22, 2019, on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
