Animal Crossing: New Horizons Pumpkin guide - How to grow different colours and find all the DIY recipes

Pumpkins are finally being added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so here's our guide on how to grow the perfect Pumpkin patch.

The humble Pumpkin signifies the arrival of autumn and throughout October, you'll be able to grow your own. Not only will you be able to turn your entire island into a Pumpkin farm if you wish, but you'll also be able to create a bunch of new Pumpkin items, such as an Arch, different type of lamps and, of course, a Jack-o-Lantern.

So, how do you grow your own Pumpkins besides from pinching a few from your best friend's garden? There are three ways to get the Pumpkin seeds you need, so let's get started.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Where to find Pumpkin seeds

To grow a Pumpkin patch, you'll first need to get some seeds. There are three ways to obtain seeds:

  • Buy them from Nook's Cranny
  • Buy them from Leif when he appears
  • Pick a Pumpkin from a friend's island, dig a hole and plant it

If you buy your Pumpkin starts from Leif, they'll cost 140 Bells, or 700 Bells for five Pumpkin starts. They are double the price in Nook's Cranny - that's capitalism for you.

You can buy as many seeds as you want, so remember to trade in those Turnips to get all that Pumpkin-growing cash.

Pumpkins require a little extra care than flowers and while there's only one type of seed, there are four Pumpkin types you can grow:

  • Orange Pumpkins
  • Yellow Pumpkins
  • White Pumpkins
  • Green Pumpkins

Each type is needed to complete various Pumpkin DIY projects, though it's not clear whether Pumpkin colours are random or whether you can obtain different colours by strategically placing them and watering them frequently like you would flowers.

Ideally, you'll want to water your Pumpkins three times a day. If you've created a very large Pumpkin patch, draft in a few pals to help you. The more you water your Pumpkins, the more you can harvest, so take care of your new crops.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Spooky DIY recipes

It wouldn't be a seasonal event without some special DIY recipes, and you can get them by giving your villagers Candy or hand a Lollipop over to Jack. You can also get new recipes by talking to islanders that are crafting in their homes, so check a few times a day to find all the Spooky DIY recipes!

You can also buy certain items from Nook's Cranny, such as the Spooky Candy Set, so check every day for new stock. We'll be updating this list as we know more, but for now, here's the kind of recipes you can expect:
