Animal Crossing 3DS not getting paid DLC, would be 'unwholesome' says Iwata

Animal Crossing: New Leaf DLC will be free, Nintendo head Satoru Iwata has confirmed, stating that paid DLC would be 'unwholesome'.

Kotaku reports that Iwata made the announcement in a recent Nintendo financials Q&A session.

Iwata sated clearly, "That sort of element [paid DLC] is absolutely not being added," before stating that such monetisation would have an impact on gameplay, even going as far as to call it calling it "unwholesome."

The format of Animal Crossing titles would be ripe for a fleece strategy, so it's refreshing to see Nintendo keeping out of the 'nickel and dime' methodology.
