Angry Birds downloaded 30M times over the holidays due to banner iOS, Android sales

Rovio has announced that games in the Angry Birds franchise were downloaded 8 million times on Christmas Day, and 30 million times during the week of December 22-29.

The firm stated on its blog it has more Angry Birds "surprises" in store for fans in 2013.

iOS and Android devices were a hot item over Christmas with mobile application analytics firm Flurry reporting a record 17.4 million iOS and Android devices were activated worldwide on Christmas day.

The firm also stated that 328 million apps were downloaded globally for both operating systems, and based on data acquired from 260,000 available apps, Flurry suggests that 50 million new iOS and Android devices were activated over the holidays.

It also figured 1.76 billion apps were downloaded through the Apple and Google stores during the reporting period.
