Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey doesn't have a map or a minimap

Developer Panache is beginning to reveal more of what you'll be doing in Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, the new game from Assassin's Creed co-creator Patrice Desilets, was properly revealed at The Game Awards in December.

Since then, Panache has been slowly lifting the lid off the game's main mechanics. Exploration, expansion, and evolution are its three main pillars. In a new developer diary, the developer explores how and why players will be pushed to explore the game's world.

Ancestors doesn't have a traditional minimap, or even a big world map. Desilets explains that you won't be chasing waypoints to complete objectives, but will instead be left to your own devices to discover the game's world and what it offers.

Ancestors is a survival game that takes place in the Neogene period in Africa 10 million years ago, so your daily routine involves experimenting with food, maintaining health and energy, and avoiding danger.
