Among Us' Airship map arrives later this month

The long-awaited Among Us Airship map finally has a release date.

Among Us developer Innersloth has revealed that the Airship map, first unveiled at last year's Game Awards, will arrive on March 31.

The Airship is Among Us' fourth and biggest map, and comes with new tasks. A free update releasing on the same day will also allow players to pick the room to start in, bring a "basic" account system to the game, and add ladders.

In a developer post, Innersloth explained why the update took so long. The game's sudden popularity in late 2020 really took the team by surprise.

Among Us has always been a small game with a very small team behind it, so the team has been scrambling to work on more content, after having initially decided to move on to something else just before Among Us hit it big.

The team's work is also split between new content, and maintenance of the live game, a task usually handled by a dedicated team in other studios. The team is expanding, however, but Innersloth is looking for specific people that fit the studio's culture. Given the team's already small size, these sort of problems unfortunately take key members away from their main task.

The blog post is worth reading if you're a fan, as it goes into much greater detail about the development team's current challenges, and what Innersloth will work on next.
