Nintendo release line-up: Bayonetta 2 dated, first 12 amiibo figures announced

Nintendo has announced its release line-up which spans into the holiday season, along with the availability to pre-order the first 12 amiibo interactive figures.


First party line-up and today's releases

The first 12 amiibo interactive figures are now available for pre-order at $12.99 each at select retailers.

These figures are Mario, Peach, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Kirby, Fox, Marth, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer, with more on the way in the future. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be the first game with full integration of amiibo functionality.

Other games that will support amiibo include Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10 and Yoshi’s Woolly World, with more to come.

More details on amiibo functionality with the various games and a launch date will be revealed shortly.

Nintendo also announced its complete retail and eShop release line-up for August 29 into Q4 2014.

Starting today, two Deluxe Downloadable Kirby Games are available for $6.99 each on the eShop for 3DS: Dedede’s Drum Dash Deluxe and Kirby Fighters Deluxe. Players who already own Kirby: Triple Deluxe with StreetPass data will get bonus content in both downloadable games.

Also today, Azure Striker GUNVOLT from Inti Creates launched for 3DS. Keiji Inafune was one of the developers on this, and for a limited time, the game comes with a free digital version of Mighty GUNVOLT.

Nintendo also confirmed a few details for titles already announced or dated, such as Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. It arrives on on October 3 and will be followed by the Wii U version "during the holiday season."

If you register both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions of the games with Club Nintendo, you'll net the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS & Wii U: Premium Sound Selection, a soundtrack CD with music taken from and inspired by the games.

Shulk from the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise would be a playable character in both games.

Nintendo also re-re-confirmed the release date for Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire on November 21. Each will be made available on the eShop and at retail.

Bayonetta 2 launches October 24 with the original Bayonetta game included in the retail package.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is out this holiday season and Hyrule Warriors will be getting DLC after it launches on September 26.

Those who buy the game will receive access to a free download that adds a new mode, a new weapon and the option to select music to add to the game. Pre-order the game at select retailers and get a free download code for a set of alternate in-game costumes for Link and Zelda. Register the game with Club Nintendo and you will net a free download code for a set of alternate costumes for Ganondorf.

Pokemon Art Academy lands in stores and on the eShop for 3DS on October 24 and Art Academy (working title), a download-exclusive application for Wii U is scheduled to launch in 2014.


3DS HOME Menu themes

New Themes for the Nintendo 3DS HOME menu are coming with the system update in October.

The HOME menu themes introduces will change the menu background, icons and folders, and music and sound effects. Themes will be available for purchase from a Theme Shop that will be added to the HOME menu.

More details will be announced in the future, but during Nintendo Direct this morning. Animal Crossing, Zelda, and Mario themes were shown.

Third party line-up time

More than 60 games from third-party publishers and developers are also on the way. On December 5, Ultimate NES Remix will arrive for 3DS at both retail and on the eShop for $29.99. On the same day, NES Remix Pack for Wii U arrives for $29.99 at retail. Both games included in the NES Remix Pack will still be sold on the eShop for $14.99 each.

On October 24, Fantasy Life lands on 3DS at retail and on the eShop. A price was not provided, but Nintendo noted the Origin Island DLC would also be made available.

And in Q4, Midnight City will release The Fullbright Company's Gone Home on Wii U.

Looking ahead into 2015

Nintendo also wanted to remind everyone that Wii U and Nintendo 3DS titles coming in 2015.

Wii U titles include the new installment in The Legend of Zelda franchise along with Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Yoshi’s Woolly World, and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse.

There's also the new Star Fox (working title), Mario Maker (working title), Project Giant Robot, Project Guard, Mario vs. Donkey Kong (working title), Mario Party 10 and Devil’s Third.

On the portable side, 3DS owners will be getting the NFC reader/writer that will interact with amiibo figures, Code Name: S.T.E.A.M., Fossil Fighters Frontier and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate which is exclusive to 3DS.
