Amazon UK digital game store opens, 600 titles available

Amazon UK has launched its online store for PC & Mac games, which can be bought and installed directly to your rig. Some 600 games are available right now.

The beta store-front can be found here, and a press release sent to VG247 today confirms that customers can download any game they buy from the moment they buy it. There's also a free-to-play store for cash-strapped players.

Titles will be stored in each customer's online library where they can be re-downloaded later. There will also be pre-order and pre-purchase deals on offer.

Using the the store, customers can also buy DLC, in-game microtransactions and currency for use in their title, as well as stocking software packages such as Photoshop and Microsoft Office.

In a statement, Xavier Garambois, Vice-President, European Consumer Business at Amazon EU S.à.r.l. wrote, “Customers buying software and video games who want their products quickly can now download these products straight to their computer with the click of a button.

"Not only is this exciting for everyday purchases but for major upcoming releases, Amazon customers will be able to get their hands on products without waiting for them to arrive in the post.”
