Amazon's Fallout TV show now has a concrete release date, so get your Geiger counter ready
The bomb is currently set to drop in spring 2024.
Dust off your hazmat suit and gulp down some Rad-X, because it’s now been revealed that Amazon Prime’s Fallout TV show will arrive in April next year.
The announcement came via a teaser posted to Twitter by the series’ official account and seemingly confirms April 12, 2024 as the date when the series, or at least its first episode, will debut. Veteran wastelanders will recognise the clip as using a shot of a Pip-Boy’s boot-up sequence to convey this message.
Tucked away within the lines of green text that scroll across the device’s screen before it reaches its main menu and shows off the release date are a couple of extra little details, including a stylised mention of the word Kilter, likely an allusion to Kilter Films, the series’ production company.
Arguably even more interesting is the name of the holotape that’s listed as being loaded, “101_The End”. This could well suggest that the show’s first episode may be titled The End, with the numbers prior to it referring to it being the opening showing of a brand new series.
So, unfortunately, if like me your mind immediately went in the direction of Vault 101, you’re probably out of luck, especially given it’s already been confirmed that the series is set in Los Angeles, the ruins of which are referred to as ‘The Boneyard’ or 'The Angel's Boneyard' in the Fallout universe.
Since the series was first announced back in 2020, details about it have been relatively scarce, with the occasional emergence of photos from its sets and reveals that the likes of Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell will star in it having provided most of what we currently know. There was also a sneaky teaser of the show shown off privately at this year’s Gamescom.
The team behind the show certainly didn’t pick a random day to suddenly announce when it’ll arrive, with yesterday having been 23 October, the very day that saw the world the games take place in transformed into the wastelands we know and love via the nuclear exchange that’d come to be known at The Great War.
