A new Mass Effect Andromeda novel series will answer your most burning questions, publisher says

If you have questions about Mass Effect, well - join the dang club.

Mass Effect: Andromeda isn't a direct sequel to the original Mass Effect trilogy. Developed by a new team, it's set in a new galaxy and time period, and features an all-new cast.

That means you won't be importing your Mass Effect 3 ending save to Andromeda, and it also means Mass Effect Andromeda isn't positioned to put to bed your questions about the original trilogy.

It looks like there's some hope on that front, though. Publisher Titan has released an update on its licensed works portfolio in which it details a new series of novels set in the Mass Effect universe.

"The novels will act as prequel and sequels to the events in the games and will become part of the overarching Mass Effect saga," the company said.

"They will focus on key characters and answer the many questions fans have been asking."

That sounds extremely promising, doesn't it? The series of four canonical novels is set to kick off in August this year with the release of Mass Effect Andromeda: Initiative, by The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms author N. K. Jemisin.

Two more novels will in March 2017 and September 2017, but their authors and titles have not been confirmed as yet. The fourth and final entry in the series will release in March 2018, and will be written by Mass Effect creative director Mac Walters.

Mass Effect: Andromeda releases in early 2017 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
