38 Studios auction set for November, Kingdoms of Amalur up for grabs

After its ignominious closure in May, the auction of 38 Studios' assets has finally been set for November 14-15. Up for grabs will be IP rights to the 'Amalur' universe, including the right to produce sequels to Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and the unreleased MMO known as Project Copernicus. Big Huge Games' entire back catalogue will also be for sale.

38 Studios acquired Big Huge Games from THQ in May 2009. The studio was responsible for the PC strategy game Rise of Nations, as well as the Age of Empires 3 expansion The Asian Dynasties.

Both Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Rise of Nations were commercially successful, so come November there should be significant interest from other publishers in acquiring the properties. That can only be a good thing for gamers.
