345,000 attended gamescom 2015, Star Wars Battlefront named game of the show

Gamescom 2015 achieved a record result of 345,000 attendees from 96 countries.

Gamescom organizers have revealed today [PDF] that this year's show, which was held August 5-9, attracted some 345,000 attendees from 96 countries. This figure includes 33,200 industry and trade professionals, a five per-cent increase over last year.

806 companies from 45 different countries were on hand to show off their latest products, which is a 14% increase over gamescom 2014. This year's event also benefited from increased floor space and better "visitor flow management".

Star Wars Battlefront was awarded the "Most Wanted Consumer Award".

Gamescom 2016 will take place August 17-21.
