343 Industries still intent on making "an excellent Halo movie"

That Halo movie. Completely dead, right? If comments made by 343 Industries boss Frankie O'Connor are indication, it's as if it hasn't even entered cardiac arrest.

A movie's been on-off for the past couple of years, but O'Connor told Variety over the weekend (via Kotaku) the Halo studio is still intent on making a movie on all things Chief.

One that will be "excellent".

"We're still interested in making an excellent 'Halo' movie," he said.

"We've created an awful lot of documentation and materials to support a feature film. We have a good idea of what kind of story we want to tell, but won't move on it until there's a great reason to do it. We're in no particular hurry."

If a feature-film doesn't end up in the near future, Microsoft are looking at man's best friend: TV. O'Connor said the firm was "intently watching" if a TV show would be an alternative option, with him adding that a movie wouldn't be a "verbatim retelling of the game."

The latest game in the Halo IP, Reach, launches worldwide next Tuesday from original developer Bungie, who will be stepping aside from the series after its launch to focus on its new Activision-published IP.
