2K 's "highly anticipated title” from one of its major franchises still on track for FY20

The "highly anticipated new title” from 2K Games is still on track for release during Take-Two's fiscal year 2020.

Take-Two announced ages ago 2K Games has a new title in the works from one of its major franchises. The title has been mentioned in every financial report since the firm released its Q4 and full fiscal year 17 financials in May 2017.

During today's Q3 fiscal year 2019 call to investors, it was reiterated the title was on track to be released by March 31, 2020.

The unannounced game was originally slated for release by the end of the current fiscal year which ends on March 31, 2019. It was, however, delayed.

Many think this new title could be a new BioShock or Borderlands entry, but many analysts are leaning towards Borderlands 3. Obviously, it could also be a new BioShock, because the franchise is really important to 2K.

Other than speculation and release windows, that's all we know about the mysterious title.  Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick is never one to be drawn on information regarding unannounced titles, and today's call was no exception.

Zelnick did say on the call the company plans to increase the number of game it releases, starting with the Private Division label.

Obsidian's The Outer Worlds is on track for release this calendar year, along with Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.

A sci-fi first-person shooter from V1 Interactive lead by Halo co-creator and Halo: Reach creative director Marcus Lehto is also in development and to be published by the Private Label division.

There's also the RPG currently codenamed Project Wight from The Outsiders, a studio founded by ex-DICE developers David Goldfarb and Ben Cousins.

And of course, a new game is in the works from Take-Two's new studio headed up by Sledgehammer Games co-founder, and former Visceral Games COO and director, Michael Condrey.

The new studio is still in its very early days,  said Zelnick, and its name will be announced at a later date. Details on the title being developed will not be provided any time soon.

In summary, Take-Two and 2K Games have plenty in the pipeline, and hopefully, we'll know what this "highly anticipated" title is in the not so distant future.
