Check out the new trailer for Netflix's The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf

We've got a new trailer for the Netflix animated film, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, that was announced by the streaming company and CD Projekt Red at WitcherCon.

"Escaping from poverty to become a witcher, Vesemir slays monsters for coin and glory, but when a new menace rises, he must face the demons of his past," says a brief blurb for the trailer.

As you can probably determine from that short explanation, the film follows the story of Vesemir and gives you some context and insight into his whole narrative arc – which will be handy for you to learn ahead of The Witcher Season Two.

You can take a look at the trailer in action below.

The animated project, which acts as a prequel to The Witcher Netflix series and was developed by the same team, opted to go for animation because they believed it was the best way to tell this specific story (and it allowed them to do things that would otherwise be unavailable in live action).

Speaking back in March 2020, scriptwriter Beau DeMayo said the story could not have been told in live-action “in any way, shape or form” without imposing an “incredible burden” on production.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf has a premiere date of August 23, and it'll be available exclusively on Netflix.
