Death Stranding has sold 5 million copies so far

Death Stranding's total sales so far are not too shabby.

Kojima Productions has revealed that since its release in 2019, Death Stranding has sold 5 million units across PC and PS4. The figure refers to copies sold to consumers, not shipped, as of March 2021.

Jay Boor, Kojima Productions' head of publishing, broke the news in a GamesIndustry.biz interview. "From a sales perspective, it has performed quite well," Boor said.

He also revealed that Kojima Productions has expanded slightly since the game's release. The studio's focus now lies on the recently-revealed Death Stranding Director's Cut (even if Kojima doesn't like calling it that), which is due for release in September on PS5.

The Director's Cut improves many aspects of Death Stranding's gameplay, including combat and building. It also adds bits of new content, like new boss fights, new missions and some new story.

It'll be interesting how many more millions the Director's Cut adds to this tally.
