What are you playing this weekend?

The weekend is here once again, and it's time to wash off the work week, throw on your beat-up sweats and t-shirt, grab some snacks and plop down on the couch for some much-needed gaming time.

This weekend, we are going to try to catch 'em all, drive around racetracks, and try out a new co-op loot shooter.

Here's what we're playing this weekend.

Dorrani Williams, Video Producer – F1 2021

This weekend I'll be playing even more F1 2021.

If you'd like to know what my driving skills look like, click the video above and feel free to laugh at me.

Also, I feel like I haven't sat down and played my Switch in a while so I'll probably pick up Zelda: Skyward Sword HD.

Nothing too exciting for me this weekend but I look forward to seeing what readers are playing.

James Billcliffe, Guides Editor – Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go just recently celebrated its fifth anniversary, but this weekend, another festivity is taking place.

Pokemon Go Fest is here, and I can’t believe it’s only been five years since it took over the world.

While it’s still a moreish collect-a-thon at heart, Pokemon Go has added tons of new gameplay mechanics over the years.

From AR Buddy Adventures and battling Team Go Rocket to the ability to make background progress with Adventure Sync, there’s a lot more flexibility and different ways to play and have an actual good time than I remembered.

While it’s obviously a lot more fun to attend the in-person events, Pokemon Go Fest is a chance to collect some rare and Legendary Pokemon while feeling like part of a larger community around the world.

Sherif Saed, Staff Writer – Arcadegeddon (PC)

If you’re a regular reader of this website, you’ll know that the only thing I love more than a demo is the surprise release of a game I never knew existed. Even if I may not be 100% on board with the premise, curiosity alone is usually enough for me to check out a shadow drop.

The most recent one of those is Illfonic’s Arcadegeddon, which was unveiled last week on Sony’s State of Play, and released by the end of the show.

Arcadegeddon is a co-op loot shooter you’ve probably seen a million times, but I am nonetheless intrigued by it. It has a neat style, which Illfonic said is inspired by Gorillaz, and it shows. The gameplay trailer showed off some decent mechanics, and though I am not a fan of Illfonic’s earlier work, Arcadegeddon is cheap enough and interesting enough that I want to play it.

I’ve seen a lot of criticism about the amount of content the game has right now in the week since its release - this is, after all, early access - but I am not looking for something to sink 50 hours into, so I am not really discouraged by that. If it has a solid core that can be built on, why not?

Stephany Nunneley, News Editor - Pokemon Go

Like James, I will mostly be playing Pokemon Go this weekend considering Pokemon Go Fest is going on.

I only started playing the mobile game this past February, and have found myself logging in each day to do some Field Research, send presents, and catch a few Pokemon I have caught what feels like a gazillion times just to earn some of their candy. I just recently went from trying to fill out my Pokedex as much as possible to actually participating in three and one-star raids. Sadly, there doesn't seem to be a very large Pokemon Go community in my town, as I can never seem to find more than one person to do a five-star or mega raid with.

Hopefully, that will change this weekend during Pokemon Go Fest. My mother and step-father will be joining me this weekend in the festivities as I have them both hooked on the game now. My mother is especially hooked on it. Sometimes, she calls me or texts me up to three, four times per day just to talk Pokemon, raids, and just general Poke stuff. I have created a monster.

Anyway, wish me luck on catching a few shiny critters and some Legendaries this weekend. So far, the only Legendary I have is Shadow Ho-Oh which I caught after finally beating the Team Rocket Go boss Giovanni. Took a couple of days, but thanks to Garchomp, Charizard, and Slowbrow, I finally defeated his line-up and caught my very own Ho-Oh.

That's what we're getting into this weekend. What are your plans? We'd love to know.
