The Sinking City comes to Xbox Series X/S, but not with a free upgrade for Xbox One

Frogwares have released the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S enhanced version of The Sinking City.

The HP Lovecraft-inspired,  investigation horror game The Sinking City is now available on the Xbox Store.

It features multiple enhancements and improvements that utilize the console’s power and functionalities.

Frogwares has confirmed the following improvements and features for the Xbox Series X/S version:

  • 4K (3840x2160) resolution
  • 60 frames per second
  • Improved graphical fidelity
  • Improved loading times
  • Additional quests - part of the Merciful Madness DLC (included in Deluxe Edition, or as a separate purchase)

A platform upgrade for the game from the Xbox One version is, however, not possible at the moment, according to Frogwares.

This is because the game on the previous and current generations of consoles have different IDs and different publishers on record.

On Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, Frogwares is the developer and publisher of the title. So, due to the ongoing legal and technical situation with Nacon, this game is currently not eligible for a last-gen platform upgrade.

As the situation is being handled legally, it remains frozen for the time being on Frogwares' side.

The Sinking City is also available on PlayStation 5.
