Pokemon Go will celebrate New Pokemon Snap's release with special event

Pokemon Go will celebrate the release of New Pokemon Snap with a special event.

The New Pokemon Snap Celebration in Pokemon Go will commemorate the April 30 release of the game for Nintendo Switch.

In New Pokemon Snap, you’ll travel to islands to photograph Pokemon in their native habitats. In the Lental region, wild Pokemon thrive on the various islands where environments can differ greatly, and there are over 200 Pokemon living in the area.

To celebrate the game’s release, you can enjoy an event in Pokemon Go inspired by this method of researching the creatures' ecology through photography.

In the event, Pokemon inspired by different habitats in the Lental region will be appearing more often in the wild and in raids. A new avatar item and sticker will also be available, and Shiny Smeargle will be making its debut.

The New Pokemon Snap event will kick off on April 29 10am local time and end on May 2 at 8pm local time.

During this time, you will find Pokemon inspired by the deserts, jungles, and underwater landscapes of the Lental region. This includes Lotad, Cacnea, and Ducklett which will be appearing more often in the wild.

Smeargle will be appearing in snapshots more often than usual, and if you are lucky you will run across a Shiny Smeargle. The Pokemon will only appear in snapshots a limited number of times, and Shiny Smeargle will no longer appear after the event concludes - although you may encounter one during future events.

As far as raids go, Pokemon Vaporeon, Meganium, and Trapinch will be appearing more often.

There will also be event-exclusive Field Research and Timed Research focused on taking snapshots. A camera avatar item and a camera-themed Gift sticker will be available in the shop during the event, and the new Gift sticker will also be available from PokeStops.
