Cliff Bleszinski may be getting ready to step back into the gaming world

Veteran game developer Cliff Bleszinski is teasing a new project over on Twitter, but the Gears of War and Lawbreakers designer is being coy about just what the project is... for now.

Cliff Bleszinski, who you may also know by the very-2000s monikers CliffyB or Dude Huge, achieved infamy in the games industry when he shot to fame thanks to his work as lead designer of Gears of War.

Since then, he worked on a range of other projects – including the doomed Lawbreakers and Radical Heights – before taking a break from the industry in 2018. It seems the draw of the gaming world may just too strong to resist, though, and now Bleszinski has confirmed that he's working on a new project.

"And, yes, for the record, I'm working on some new stuff, and you should know every damned day it's agonizing to not talk about it," he tweeted. Before signing off, quite defensively, with: "Deal with it. Love y'all."

He also posted a follow-up tweet, seemingly spurred on by rampant speculation that he's definitely working on a game. "Bear in mind it might not necessarily be a videogame," he added later.

But what could it be? It's almost certainly not connected to the Gears of War franchise since that's now in the capable hands of Microsoft's Coalition studio. Plus, as Bleszinski added in a reply to a curious follower, there are no chainsaws in the game.

Curiously, there's a hint that Rami Ismail has been in talks with Bleszinski about the project, too. But whatever the veteran dev and consultant is working on hasn't been revealed yet either. Apparently, his next project is due to be revealed soon, though.

Here's hoping that whatever Bleszinski works on next finds a bigger audience than Lawbreakers, which the designer weirdly thought was too 'woke' to succeed.
