Knockout City is a competitive dodgeball game from EA and Mario Kart Live creators

Knockout City is the new game from EA's Originals label.

Knockout City was announced overnight as part of the Nintendo Direct. The competitive dodgeball multiplayer game is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Switch on May 21.

Knockout City is published by EA, and comes from Mario Kart Live developer Velan. Knockout City is a competitive third-person team-based take on dodgeball featuring more than just throwing and catching. Even without a ball, you can turn into a one and have your teammates hurl you at opponents.

The game offers free-for-all, as well as 3v3 and 4v4 modes. Matches take place in lively arenas, of which there will be five at launch. As seen in the trailer, there's a big focus on character customisation in Knockout City. You'll be able to customise body type, hairstyle, glider, looks, and even attitude.

The game is priced $20, and supports cross-play and cross-progression on all platforms. At launch, Velan will also offer a free trial for anyone looking to see what it's about before committing. The limited-time trial includes all content in the full game.

Velan also announced that Knockout City's first beta is coming this weekend to Steam and Origin. The beta will be available Saturday, February 20 to Sunday, February 21.
