Skyrim on PS5 can now run at 60FPS thanks to mod

And you can still earn Trophies.

You can now get Skyrim running at 60 frames-per-second on PlayStation 5 thanks to a new mod.

As reported by Eurogamer, the imaginatively-named "Skyrim @ 60fps" mod works for both PS4 and PS5. It can be activated by downloading the mod via the fantasy RPG's in-game menus, then load up the game.

This mod also doesn't disable Trophies, too, but only if it is the only mod that is being used at a given time.

The use of mods normally disables any achievements in Bethesda games but given that this mod doesn't give the user an advantage - other than a smoother, faster frame rate - it doesn't seem reasonable to take away Trophies.

This brings the PlayStation 5 version of Bethesda's almost-10-year-old RPG in line with the Xbox One X edition, which has been running at 60FPS since November, also thanks to a mod.

Skyrim isn't properly out for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles just yet, but it can be played via both machines' backwards compatibility mode. Bethesda has said that free upgrades for next-gen consoles will be rolled out for a number of its games, but hasn't said when they will actually be going live.
