Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 free content update adds Sonic, new boss raid mode

Sega has released the first of numerous free updates for Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, and today's update adds Sonic to the game.

Alongside Sonic, the free content update for Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 also adds a new boss raid mode.

Players can look forward to new characters, a fresh game mode, new background music, and 20 new avatars with the update.

Four new playable characters are joining the game: Sonic the Hedgehog, Lidelle, Ms. Accord, and The Ocean Prince.

Each of the characters has their own skills in talent battle mode.

The new online mode Boss Raid has players teaming up to defeat a mutual opponent for cooperative fun. Here, up to four players will face a CPU-controlled boss. Switch players can even face the boss together using local wireless multiplayer mode.

In the talent battle mode, players can use the extended rooster. During the game, puyos have to be popped, tetriminos disbanded, and garbabe puyos shaken off. If the boss then runs out of life points, the game is won.

Players can adjust the difficulty, but with increased difficulty, more bosses have to be defeated. The number can be set by the players.

The Chance Time can occur when players encounter random events in the raids. If the criteria are met, they can cause extra damage to the boss with the events.

Bosses have unique abilities, and many will provide additional challenges, such as paralysis. This can prevent rotation for a short time.

Item cards and experience points can be obtained in boss raids. The quality of the reward increases with the level of difficulty. Players can use the cards to improve their team in the talent battles.

The new content is available to all players on PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
