Crimson Desert release set for winter 2021

During The Game Awards 2020, Pearl Abyss showed a new gameplay trailer for Crimson Desert and announced a release window.

The trailer for Crimson Desert dives into the open-world game which is slated for a winter 2021 release, on consoles and PC.

This action-adventure game combines elements of narrative-driven single-player games with online multiplayer functionality.

Born out of Black Desert Online, and originally set to be a prequel to Black Desert, the developer opted for a new story instead which will focus on a group of mercenaries.

Set in Pywel, a war-torn world with many different territories, cities, cultures, and religions, the land is full of turmoil, with many areas, factions, and regions fighting for control. As you progress through the game, events will unfold that will "shape the destinies of all involved."

In the trailer, you get a sense of the story, gameplay elements, and everything else you can expect from the game.

The main protagonist is Macduff was revealed and shows the character meeting the primary members of his mercenary group, who will traverse the continent of Pywel together. There's also a taste of combat, including battles and boss fights.

Over the coming months, Pearl Abyss intends to provide more information on the game and to involve players in the development process.
