Here's everything you need to know about Temtem before its PS5 launch

It will all seem pretty familiar to anyone who has played that other pocket monster game!

Spanish developer Crema has given us a look at Temtem's gameplay on PS5 ahead of the Pokemon-inspired title's launch on the console.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, game director Guillermo Andrades laid out what players can expect from the critter-collecting romp, which comes out in Early Access on PS5 on December 8.

Temtem's basics will be rather familiar if you have ever spent any time with a certain other pocket monster title found on Nintendo platforms or phones. At the start, players have to choose which Poke... sorry Temtem to have as their companion. There are three options: the crystal-themed Crystle, monkey Smazee or the psychic Houchic.

Andrades also recommends stocking up on Smoke Bombs so that you and your critters can make an escape if needs be. You should also apparently take your time while exploring, with the game director noting that each area has different kinds of Temtem to discover, as well as a number of secrets. They also say you should "keep your Tempedia handy," which is this game's version of a Pokedek.

Andrades also provides tips for successfully battling in Temtem's two-vs-two battles.

"With different islands to explore, tems to tame, quests to complete, and an ever-expanding world with new features and tems to discover, Temtem is ready and waiting for you and your fellow tamers," Andrades wrote.

"Make friends, rivals, and take on the world to become the best tamer in the Airborne Archipelago."

Temtem originally launched on January 21 on Steam. Within a month, the title had sold more than 500,000 copies around the world. Following its release, Alex Donaldson wrote that the game was "excellent in its own right" and said that "it can also be a boot up the ass for Pokemon."

The title is making its console debut on PS5, but is also slated for release on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
