The best Nintendo Switch deals we saw this year
We’ve seen a few good Switch offers, more so than we did for PS4 and Xbox One, though Nintendo haven’t just released a next-gen console like the others have, so this may be an unfair comparison. Nintendo were pushing the Switch + Mario Kart Deluxe with three months of Switch Online membership for $299 as this year’s big Switch bundle, though plenty of Lite consoles also went on offer.
There was a good range of discounts on individual Switch games too, seeing some first-party games going as low as $25 over at GameStop. Those deals weren’t as good on the eShop, though there were still plenty of third-party bargains up for grabs. MicroSD cards saw/still have some great deals going, offering a cheap means of expanding your console’s digital storage for as little as under $20.
Switch Black Friday predictions for 2021
With a Switch successor (or even a mid-generation upgrade) nowhere in sight, it seems quite likely that we’ll see further console discounts for Black Friday 2021. Whether they can beat this year’s selection though is a different matter entirely and Nintendo is known for playing things safe.
As such, we aren’t expecting more than the usual 33% discount for digital copies, though these always remain in high demand so there’s little incentive for Nintendo to drop these further. This year showed some surprisingly high offers on physical editions though, so we could be in for a surprise.
Big third-party discounts are quite likely to reappear too, but it’s impossible to say for certain just what we can expect. A lot can change in a year, as 2020 has taught us, but Nintendo have also been some of the best secret keepers in the industry, as Age of Calamity recently showed, Time will tell just what they have planned but we aren’t expecting discounts to go much higher than this year.
