Apex Legends most popular characters have been revealed

Respawn has shared a little bit of data with us this weekend that lifts the lid of which characters get chosen the most in the on-going battle royale game Apex Legends.

Earlier in the week, Respawn put out a tweet that asked players to guess which playable Apex Legends characters enjoyed the highest pick rate in the title.

Moreover, the developer tasked players with ranking which Legends they thought were more popular, on a scale of 1-5. Despite the developer’s insistence, it would get back to curious players within the hour, the studio actually took a full day to crunch the numbers and feedback to patient players (thanks, Eurogamer).

The top spot shouldn’t shock you – Wraith has been something of an unofficial face for the game since it launched back at the start of 2019 – but the following most popular players were certainly a surprise to us.

It’s interesting to see characters like Octane and Horizon rank in the top five spots. Neither of the Legends were available in-game when it launched, and typically we see the original characters maintain their popularity even as time goes on.

Do the numbers listed up top surprise you, or are they pretty much in-line with what you were expecting?

If you’re wondering when we’re going to get more content for the game, it’s not yet clear – but don’t expect the studio to work its staff unfairly hard in the name of shipping content.

Respawn Entertainment has recently revealed that it won’t make its staff work long hours to increase the amount of content for Apex Legends via an AMA on Reddit.

Respawn recently launched the seventh season of Apex Legends, which has introduced the Olympus map and the brand new character, Horizon. The studio has teased that future seasons will “probably” expand the game “beyond battle royale," though it remains to be seen what that means.

Apex Legends came to Steam at the start of November and is already one of the most popular games on the PC platform.
