Konami hints at impending Silent Hill news

Konami has gone about directing attention towards a new Silent Hill Twitter account in a bit of an unorthodox way.

Konami has kicked off what could only be seen as a teaser for something Silent Hill-related. On Friday, the publisher posted the Silent Hill 2 siren on its official Twitter account, sending series fans into a tizzy.

Naturally, this fuelled intense speculation about Silent Hill from fans hungry for something new.

The fun didn't last long, as Konami quickly replied to that original Tweet claiming the post was motivated by "watching streams of Dead by Daylight."

Dead by Daylight, of course, recently received major Silent Hill-themed content. However, the tongue-in-cheek tone of the Tweet clearly indicates that Konami is not messing around, and is indeed teasing something.

Before the Twitter account ended this weird bout of promotion, it directed fans to the official Silent Hill account on Twitter. The account is very recent, having only started in July. Though it does not yet have the blue check mark, being linked to by Konami's official Twitter gives it credence.

Perhaps hoping to keep fans guessing, Konami ended the Tweet string by saying that official news would come from the account in question, "or an event or something, not from us."

"We were just being fans and enjoyed the noise/memories. Sorry everyone, did [not] mean to kill your Friday mood."

Though it might seem benign, mentioning an "event or something" in that last Tweet is actually significant. It has been rumoured for months now that Sony is co-developing a Silent Hill reboot for PS5, something Konami shot down. Initially, reports suggested we'll be hearing about that game at the PS5 June event, but the event came and went without a hint of Silent Hill.

Now, the same people who broke the news say Sony has another PS5 showcase lined up for this month, meaning that could be where we get to see the Silent Hill project. In any case, it's not as random as it may seem that Konami suddenly remembered Silent Hill.
