Avowed is a new Xbox title from RPG maker Obsidian

Microsoft has teased a brand new game called Avowed, from Neverwinter Nights, Pillars of Eternity and Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian.

During the Xbox Games Showcase reveals today, Avowed popped up as a new project for the forthcoming Xbox Series X console and PC.  Watch the tease below.

The game is an RPG filled with magic, and it is set in the world of Eora, the same world as Pillars of Eternity.

Obsidian Entertainment has been knocking around for a while, producing a portfolio of well-regarded role-playing games. It most recently released The Outer Worlds for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch.

Back in 2018 Microsoft bought Obsidian while on a spending spree which included other developers Ninja Theory, Playground Games, Undead Games and InXile Entertainment in an effort to bolster its internal studios.

At the time, Matt Booty, VP of Microsoft Studios said he wanted Obsidian to "fully realize their creative ambitions on both existing franchises and new RPG projects." So here we are. Watch out for more Avowed soon.
