Ghost of Tsushima review roundup – all the scores

Sucker Punch’s PS4 swan song launches this Friday, July 17, so we’ve compiled a Ghost of Tsushima review roundup to give you a decent overview of whether people reckon it’s good or not.

This is Sucker Punch’s first game in six years, after having launched Infamous Second Son and Infamous First Light way back in 2014. It’s also the last AAA PS4-exclusive of this console generation, making it a particularly prominent release ahead of next-gen.

Ghost of Tsushima tells the tale of Jin Sakai, a stalwart samurai attempting to fend off the Mongol invasion of Tsushima in the late 13th Century. It juxtaposes direct, katana-oriented combat with a more stealthy approach, and allows you to switch between the two modes based on your own personal preference.

Anyway, we’ve taken the liberty of compiling a Ghost of Tsushima review roundup so you can see what the overarching critical consensus looks like. Do people think the Most of Tsushima? Or are we about to see the Roast of Tsushima? Check out all the scores below – starting with the most important one, obviously.

The VG247 review – 3/5

“It has its moments, but like Jin Sakai in the opening hours, the past holds it back. It’s Open World: The Video Game. It’s far too easy, too – the lack of consequence for failure makes it feel like you’re just going through the motions. If you’ll excuse the wind-based pun, it’s a breeze. While playing it, I often found my mind wandering. By the third and final act, I just wanted it to be over. Like the samurai, Ghost of Tsushima feels like a relic of a bygone era.”
