Madden 21 free upgrade confirmed for PS5, game is also coming to Steam

Madden 21 players on PS4 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version of the sports titles for no charge.

Like the Xbox One version, PS4 players will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version of Madden 21 when released for no extra charge. You will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version up to the release of Madden 22.

The football title will also be made available on Steam, which is a first for the series. You can pre-order it through the service here.

Also announced today was the cover athlete: NFL MVP and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

This year's entry in the franchise will include a new feature called Face of the Franchise: Rise to Fame. It is a playable documentary career campaign where players create themselves and will complete their "rise to fame from high school as a quarterback," to college where they can choose to be a running back or wide receiver "before experiencing the NFL Combine, NFL Draft, and cementing their legacy in the League."

In addition, fans can expect more than 50 new Superstar X-Factor abilities, Live Playbooks 2.0, and a new season of Ultimate Team content, along with other new features.

Those who pre-order the Madden NFL 21 MVP Edition will be granted 3-Day Early Access, a Lamar Jackson Elite Item with Power Up, 17 Madden Ultimate Team Gold Team Fantasy Packs, one Large Quicksell Training Pack, Madden Championship Series Ultimate Champion Pack, 1 of 32 Elite Players from Team Elite Pack and one “Your Choice” Uniform Pack.

EA Access and Origin Access Basic members can also get a head start trying Madden NFL 21 before launch day. Members also receive a number of in-game perks, as well as 10% off the full game and all Madden Ultimate Team purchases. Origin Access Premier members get all the benefits of Origin Access Basic, plus full access to Madden NFL 21 MVP Edition on PC before launch day that they can play as much as they want as long as they are members.

Madden 21 releases on August 28. It will also be released on Stadia this winter.
