Activision has delayed the launch of new Call of Duty seasons.
The upcoming launch of Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare‘s Season 4, as well as Call of Duty: Mobile‘s Season 7 have both been moved to an indefinite date. Both seasons were originally set to start this week.
Activision said in a statement that now is the time to allow those fighting against injustice across the US to “be seen and heard.”
“While we all look forward to playing the new seasons of Modern Warfare, Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile, now is not the time. We are moving the launches of Modern Warfare Season 4 and Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 to later dates. Right now it’s time for those speaking up for equality, justice and change to be seen and heard. We stand alongside you,” Activision’s statement reads.

The publisher did not provide a new target for either of those launches, but the publisher’s decision isn’t surprising.
Sony has already cancelled this week’s anticipated PS5 games showcase for the same reasons. Indeed, Activision was among several publishers who all issued strong statements condemning the violence against people of colour, and America’s over-policing of black citizens.
