These Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord Steam numbers keep going up

Steam's biggest launch of 2020 continues to get bigger.

Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord has been a success story since the moment it launched on Monday in Early Access. The game quickly became Steam's biggest launch of 2020, beating the likes of Doom Eternal, and Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem

At launch, Bannerlord found a spot in Steam's top five list of most active games. Unlike most game launches, the days following release didn't bring a drop in activity, rather a big boost. By the most recent count, Bannerlord peaked at nearly 220,000 concurrent players on Steam, up significantly from launch.

That figure was achieved in the last 24 hours, and could climb yet again over the coming days. Even still, it's big enough for Bannerlord to claim the coveted best-of-the-rest spot, just below the immovable trifecta of Dota 2, CS:GO and PUBG.

The game also enjoys a 'very positive' review rating on Steam. All of this for a self-published, seemingly niche indie game.

We've been playing it, too, and Lauren has put together a couple of guides to help you make the crucial decision of picking a starting culture, and whether or not you should capture prisoners given the chance.
