Your knife in Resident Evil 3 doesn't break

The knife in Resident Evil 3 has received a much-needed upgrade.

Resident Evil 3 solves one of Resident Evil 2 Remake's big problems. You may recall that in Resident Evil 2 Remake, all knives had a durability meter, which meant that they would break after only a couple of uses.

This prevented players from using them to attack enemies, saving them instead for those zombie grab attacks. Giving knives durability also had the unfortunate side effect of essentially killing knife-only runs. With Resident Evil 3, the knife you start with doesn't break.

"We kept the knife inexhaustible [in Resident Evil 3], so you can use it forever," producer Peter Fabiano told Game Informer.

"We're dealing with survival horror and everything is exhaustible. You run out of bullets. You run out of herbs. You run out of all the items you can use," he explained, saying that the knife was exempt from that.

"So if you did run out of everything, what would you have? The knife. The director always wanted to make it so that you at least have your trusty knife. That’s always something you can rely on."

In fact, according to Capcom, some on the development team managed to finish the game with just the knife equipped, so you can be certain the community will do the same once the game launches.

Resident Evil 3's short demo was recently released, and you can watch a full playthrough of it at the link to keep you busy until lanch.

Resident Evil 3 comes out April 3 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
