The Messenger prequel Sea of Stars funded in less than 7 hours, first stretch goal about to be hit

That was quick.

Sea of Stars, the new title from indie studio Sabotage, has been funded on Kickstarter and achieved funding in just under seven hours of going live.

The game is a turn-based RPG inspired by the 90s classics and is a prequel story set in The Messenger’s universe.

With the game being fully funded, Sabotage has outlined the first stretch goal, Single Player +, which will be a free content update.

While not a fully-fledged co-op mode, because the main character is always in control, Single Player + lets a second player drop in and out at will. This allows two players to traverse the world together, and battle enemies in co-op.

The content will also come with optional puzzles that will require two players to compete. Doing so will eventually unlock the “Halls of Cooperation”, a short bonus dungeon "best experienced with a friend."

The developers will start working on the content update after Sea of Stars is released.

In order for the content to be developed, the first stretch goal needs to be met - and it looks like that's about to happen. Set for $150,000, over four thousand people have already pledged $136,852 as of press time - and there are still 29 days to go.

The game is slated for a 2022 release on PC and consoles.
