Yakuza: Like a Dragon features underground dungeons

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is sounding more interesting by the week.

Sega has released more information on Yakuza: Like a Dragon and it pertains to the underground "dungeons" you will travel to.

According to the information, as the story progresses, Kasuga and others will use the underpass to move to the headquarters of a hostile organization. This area is described as a dangerous "dungeon" where "invisible enemies and hostile humans nest."

Once the hostile organization is cleared, you will be able to use these dungeons as a place to level up and collect weapons, armor, and materials which can be found in attache cases. The contents randomly change, so it's suggested you check back often for more items.

Attache cases have one item, and the most common are health recovery items. Occasionally, you will be able to acquire rare EXP boost items.

While delving through the dungeon, you will also come across materials required to create new weapons and armor.

Alongside attache cases, you will find safes which like the cases contain various items and equipment. These will require keys in order to be opened, and contain more and rarer items such as equipment not available in the shops. Gold and silver safes can also be found.

Some of the safes in the dungeon have enemies inside instead of items, and will suddenly attack. Keep that in mind should you find one.

Speaking of enemies, in the dungeon, you will not only run across the enemy organization but rare and unique enemies. These include "perverts" and prisoners who have broken out of jail and are rather rare in the city.

If you head over to Gematsu, the site has all of the new information translated for you.

The game is slated for release in Japan on January 12 and will arrive in other regions later in 2020.
