Redbox will no longer rent games

Redbox is ending game rentals.

Redbox, the well known movie and games rental service in the US, is getting out of the games business. The company will no longer rent, or sell video games.

Redbox confirmed to The Verge that it's ending game rentals effective immediately, but some games will remain on sale for the remainder of this year.

Outside of Gamefly, players in America have little to no alternatives to Redbox. Gamefly has a different business model compared to Redbox, requiring a subscription and mailing/waiting for games. Redbox, on the other hand, was an instant service you could browse for games and pick them up immediately at a kiosk.

According to The Verge, Redbox will be offering good deals on games for sale. Death Stranding, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, for instance, will be $40.
