Call of Duty: Modern Warfare gets new patch, but 2 of its biggest fixes don’t actually work

Infinity Ward’s latest update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare only fixes a few of the problems it’s supposed to.

Over the weekend, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare received a new update on all platforms that brought a fair number of requested changes, fixed some bugs and added new modes like Kill Confirmed.

According to official patch notes published by Infinity Ward, the update is supposed to have reduced the volume of footsteps. How loud footsteps are in Modern Warfare has been a sticking point for many players who feel it contributes to the game’s camping problem.

Unfortunately, players reported that the change is very subtle – if at all – and does not actually take care of the issue. Independent testing by YouTuber TheXclusiveAce corroborated this, to the chagrin of many.

Another supposed fix was made to prevent players who get kills in APCs in Ground War from earning game-ending nukes. Once again, players quickly realised that they can still do this.

It’s not all doom and gloom, however, as the patch did actually remove battle chatter from one-life modes, as Infinity Ward promised. Claymores can now also be disabled for three seconds when stunned, which should help greatly against them. A bug that caused charms to mess with weapons’ hip fire accuracy has been fixed, too.

Unfortunately, many crashes on PC and Xbox One remain. The PC’s stuttering cutscenes in single-player, as well as the often broken lobby menu (black screen) remain unchanged.
