The Last of Us: Part 2 has been delayed to May 29

Naughty Dog has confirmed The Last of Us: Part 2 has been delayed into spring.

After a report surfaced this morning that The Last of Us: Part 2 has been delayed, Naughty Dog confirmed the news on the PS Blog.

According to company vice president Neil Druckmann, the team felt the game needed more polish.

"It was during the last few weeks, as we were closing out sections of the game, that we realized we simply didn’t have enough time to bring the entire game up to a level of polish we would call Naughty Dog quality," said Druckmann.

"At this point we were faced with two options: compromise parts of the game or get more time. We went with the latter, and this new release date allows us to finish everything to our level of satisfaction while also reducing stress on the team."

The game will now release on May 29.

Sony has delayed The Last of Us: Part 2 to spring 2020, according to a report.

After being handed a February 21, 2020 release date, Sony has decided to move The Last of Us: Part 2 to spring.

This is according to sources close to the matter speaking with Kotaku.

Sony has yet to comment on the report, but Kotaku said it expects the announcement to be made this week. We'll update this post once an official comment is available.

In development since 2016, Sony announced a February release date for The Last of Us: Part 2 back in September.
