Monster Hunter World: Iceborne title update adds Rajang, new biome, upgrades to layered armor system

The first Monster Hunter World: Iceborne title update drops tomorrow, and Capcom has detailed what to expect.

When the October title update drops for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, you can expect a new layered armor 'transmog' style system, new Tempered monsters, and a new biome, among other content.

According to the latest developer update, the new monster is Rajang from Monster Hunter 2, and it can be hunted in the new volcanic biome of the Guiding Lands.

Once you have completed Special Assignments, you will be able to fight him. You will notice the monster has been given new moves, and a visual upgrade to make him appear more realistic. Plus, he's very volatile. When he becomes enraged, Rajang turns gold and his arms become rock solid making him an even harder opponent. When he goes into full rampage mode, he's even more formidable.

Once defeated, you can acquire his armor set which features golden fur. Armor skills for the set will be in line with what Rajang represents and is loaded with offensive-oriented skills.

Changes in the update will also apply to the Guiding Lands. There is the new volcanic area to be discovered. The Guiding Lands is also the home of new Tempered monsters. Other changes are coming to the Guiding Lands based on player feedback. Some of these changes can be expected with the December update.

Also, the layered armor system is getting an upgrade which will make it similar to the Transmog system. New layered armor will also be available for many monsters including including Barroth and Anjanath.

Finally, you will be able to invite other players into your room. This way you can hang out and show off how you have the place decorated. Speaking of which, new decorations will be added with the update.

In short, you can expect a new monster, Tempered versions of current monsters, a new biome, weapon augmentation and custom upgrades, and the addition of new weapon tress, armor and skills.

Arekkz goes over the additions coming with the update in his latest video.

The Monster Hunter World: Iceborne update drops tomorrow, October 10.

The next Monster Hunter World: Iceborne update is planned for November. This include the Resident Evil 2 Remake cross over event featuring Claire, Leon, and the Tyrant. Special quests for the winning entries of the weapon and Palico equipment design contest will also be available for players to craft.

For PS4 players, the first round of Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds collaboration will become available, giving players a chance to craft a Light Bowgun designed as Aloy’s Stormslinger.

December will continue with a new yet to be revealed monster and the return of Monster Hunter’s seasonal fests, which will be held in both Astera’s and Seliana’s Gathering Hub. December will also see the second round of Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds collaboration.

Here, you will be able to craft a full armor set fashioned after the Shield-Weaver armor in Horizon Zero Dawn. There will also be quests to craft new Palico equipment and upgrade the Stormslinger, plus a quest to craft the new Banuk armor set.

There will also be quests to upgrade Aloy’s Bow and the Felyne Watcher equipment that were available in Monster Hunter World.

More updates are planned for 2020 with information to be shared later.
