Mortal Kombat 11 is getting co-op Team Raids

Mortal Kombat 11 is adding a new co-op mode that's decidedly different from what you typically see in fighting games.

On the most recent Kombat Kast, a semi-regular online show where Mortal Kombat 11 developer NetherRealm shares details about upcoming balance changes, content updates and more, the developer unveiled Team Raids.

The setup for Team Raids sounds so simple, it's strange no one has thought to try it before. Here's how it works: three players team up to fight the same beefed up boss, and they all share five lives. Each player can only see their own fight line, but collective damage will be reflected in the boss' health bar. All three fights are going on separately at the same time.

Throughout the match, challenges will appear and require players to perform specific actions in order to get a buff or debuff the boss. The trick is that all three players need to correctly fulfil the challenge for the team to get the bonus.

Raids take into account character builds, and NetherRealm notes that players will need to carefully set their augments before a raid to ensure the best odds of survival.

Team raids arrive with the next patch, and you'll be able to find these fights as Towers that that replace tradtional boss fights. You can see the Team Raids segment, including a full match, in the video below.
