Over 500,000 viewers tuned in to watch gamescom: Opening Night Live

Geoff Keighley's first gamescom: Opening Night Live event has been very popular with fans around the world.

Now that gamescom 2019 is behind us, organisers have revealed some interesting statistics about this year's edition. Opening Night Live, which brought two hours of premiers and game reveals, has been very successful.

In its first iteration, the show attracted over 500,000 concurrent viewers worldwide, according to event organisers. In fact, gamescom video content was viewed over 100 million times over the event's duration.

The show itself was a success, attracting 373,000 (up from 370,000) visitors this year from more than 100 countries. Of that, 31,300 were trade visitors.

The show floor saw 1,153 exhibitors, a 10% increase compared to last year's edition. Companies used up 218,000 square metres to display their products, which is an 8% increase in floor space.

Next year's gamescom will take place Tuesday, August 25 to Saturday, August 29 at the same venue.
