Pokemon Sword and Shield video tours a town, online battles will not use Pokemon Global Link

Here's a look at one of the towns in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

In this video, Pokemon Sword and Shield director Shigeru Ohmori takes you on a tour of a town in the Galar region.

You'll see the Research Lab, another look at the Pokemon Corviknight which carries you between towns, and the train station. The train station shown in the video is one of many located in the Galar region.

Pokemon Centers, and clothing and food shops are also shown.

Alongside the video, Nintendo revealed the Pokemon Global Link (PGL) will not be used for online battles. Instead, for Pokemon Sword and Shield, services equivalent to the current Rating Battle and Online Competitions will be supported using just the connectivity features of Nintendo Switch. Game Sync will not be required for these new games.

The ability to view services such as Rankings, Distribution Regulations, and the events calendar usually accessed through PGL will be provided through Pokemon Home for iOS and Android in early 2020.

Nintendo promised details on Pokemon Home would be provided at a later date.

Sword and Shield releases November 15.
