Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey video explains how "curiosity and experimentation" are key to evolving

Experimentation and general curiosity are key to evolving your character in Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.

There are no set missions in Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, as it's up to the player to write their own history.

In the game, you will evolve as you learn new skills through experimenting with implements. As you can see in the video, you go from smashing rocks together, to learning to use a stick. Each time you learn something, it expands your evolutionary skill tree. Opening up new skills and evolutionary neurons will depend upon how you play and opens up a path to the next evolutionary creature.

There's also a generation option where you can go 15 years into the future. Here the babies become adults and the adults become elders.

You can learn more about skills and character evolution by watching the video.

Oh, and please take care of the baby on your back while fighting hyenas. That scene made me extremely nervous.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey releases August 27 on PC exclusively through the Epic Games Store. PS4 and Xbox One versions will follow in December.
